John Kow


John farms in Ulu Tiram and sells his vegetables at various markets around Johor Bahru. He practises low pesticide management, that is, only if required and never right before harvesting.

The reason he does this is because he thinks that responsible methods of farming like this is the right thing to do.  He grows mainly leafy green vegetables which he sells alongside some other produce he purchases from wholesalers.

Buying from a local farmer like John (he farms in Ulu Tiram a short 20kms away) also reduces emissions and energy costs of transporting produce long distances and the need for extended refrigeration and storage. Vegetables are also picked at peak flavour usually that morning bringing them to market that evening.
